The new look Slammers defeated the Truro Bearcats last night by a score of 3-0. The Slammers had a new look with their black sweaters plus the addition of three forwards to their line-up and it also marked the return of defensemen Peter MacIntosh and Mitch Flynn to the line-up.
Slammers captain Brad Jackson opened the scoring at the 1:19 to give the Slammers 1-0 lead. Rookie Alex Noonan scored at 11:57 to extend the lead to 2-0. Then Bruno Gosselin scored 27 seconds later to increase the lead to 3-0. There was no scoring in the second or third period.
Jordan Bent stopped all 30 shots he faced to secure his third shut-out this month.
Coach Tatarnic had this to say about the game "it's always a great game win or lose when Truro is in town. When you face Truro you have to work for everything you get out there. I thought the guys played hard tonight and they looked pretty good in the new sweaters also. We've been short players the last two months here so it was nice to have a full line-up. We need a bigger effort tonight when we face the Weeks Crushers. |
