Slammers defeat Crushers
Sun. Jan. 18, 2009
The Woodstock Slammers defeated the Weeks Crushers Saturday night at the Carleton Civic Centre by a score of 3-2.

Newly acquired Branden Kosolofsky tied the game 55 seconds into the second period.  The Crushers once again took the lead heading into the third period.  The Slammers tied the game when Mitch Flynn fired a shot from the point that beat the Crushers goaltender on the stick side.  Bobby Christie scored the eventual game winner on a breakaway while killing off a 5 minute penalty.  Jordan Bent 36 of 38 shots for the win.

"I'm happy with the four point weekend and there are definitely some positives coming out of these two games which includes our intensity level, our penalty kill and the strong play of goaltender Jordan Bent.  There are some areas we need to work on and that will be stressed this coming week in practice" commented Head Coach Jason Tatarnic.

The Slammers are at home again this coming weekend as they face the Dieppe Commandos on Friday night and the Bridgewater Lumberjacks on Saturday night.  "Every game is so important right now especially when you play teams in your division as there is not much separation at this point.  I expect the intensity level will rise as teams battle for position for the remainder of the games" added Coach Tatarnic.
