Hometown Slammers Keep Bulldogs At Bay

Jordan DeLong completed a brace with 7:16 remaining in regulation time as the host Woodstock Slammers gave their hometown fans an early Christmas present with a hard earned 3-2 victory over the Antigonish Bulldogs on Sunday at Carleton Civic Centre.

The Sherwood Hockey Offensive Player of the Week is right winger Mitchell Price of the Woodstock Slammers. The Fredericton NB native had 5 goals and 2 assists as the Slammers picked up a big 4 points in games played this week.

The Woodstock Slammers hit the road Sunday for an away rink, but it wasn’t one in their own league. It wasn’t even in their own country. The defending Maritime Junior A Hockey League champions travelled to Durham, New Hampshire, to experience a day in the life of university hockey.

The Woodstock Slammers ran into a brick wall on Friday night. Aaron Harvey picked up first star honours as he turned aside all 38 shots he faced in a 4-0 Charlottetown Abbies victory over the Slammers Friday night at Carleton Civic Centre.

Crickard perseveres despite nagging injury

The injury bug has bitten the Woodstock Slammers. First goalie Curtis Black got hurt in practice on Tuesday, then newly acquired goalie Travis Crickard pulled his groin early Wednesday. Add in a few bad bounces on Wednesday night, and the Slammers found themselves behind the eight ball as they hosted the Amherst Ramblers.

Slammers acquire netminder

The Woodstock Slammers have acquired the rights of goaltender Travis Crickard from the Flin Flon Bombers for future considerations.

The 19-year-old St. John's, Newfoundland, native joined the Slammers Tuesday and will be on the road tonight when Woodstock faces the Restigouche Tigers in Campbellton. Crickard, at 5'9" 175 pounds, is expected to be in the Slammer lineup on Saturday when they visit the Miramichi Timberwolves.
